Fun at Mt. Rose ski area

Mt. Rose isn't the biggest ski and riding resort in the Sierra Nevada, but it does offer some special attractions. Among other things, it boasts the highest base level of any resort in the Tahoe area. And the seven Chutes off the main resort area on the Slide Mountain side are the equal of any black diamond runs around the lake.Move beyond intermediate skiing by progressing on groomed blue and some black slopes here as you develop the necessary skills in the Advanced Weekend Workshops. Short radius turns, carving, pole use, rhythm, and small bumps are common lesson themes. Advanced Weekend Workshops cost $39 and start at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the top of Lakeview and Blazing Zephyr chairlifts.Mt. Rose season pass holders may enjoy complimentary
mini-clinics on Saturdays andSundays at 9:15 am in January and February. Improve your skills and have a more enjoyable mountain experience by skiing/riding any type of terrain. Intermediate clinics for Mt. Rose season pass holders meet at the top of Lakeview chair and Intermediate/Advanced skiers meet at the top of Blazing Zephyr.Ladies Day Clinics are held on Thursdays and cost $10 for ticket holders, free for season pass holders. The program meets at the Main Lodge Ski School area and drop-ins are welcome. The 90-minute Ladies Day clinics start at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Thursdays are Ladies Days --- ladies may purchase lift tickets for $35.Silver Ski Clinics cost $10 with a season pass and meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Designed for wiser, more experienced skiers ages 50 and older, these clinics focus on new movement patterns used with shaped
skis.Mt. Rose is Tahoe’s Gateway Resort, located 25 minutes away from Reno and 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Shuttles are available from the Grand Sierra Resort. Mt. Rose boasts over 1,200 acres of terrain, including the 200-plus acre Chutes, and a new Winters Creek Lodge --- a 7865 sq. ft. building offering new dining options and panoramic views of Washoe Valley.
