Carson City area gaming profits see August slide

Gaming profits for Carson City area casinos slid by 1.7 percent in August, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reports Wednesday. Casinos in Carson City and the valley side of Douglas County, including Minden and Gardnerville, took in $8,650,776 in August. Last year, during the same period, the casinos took in $8,801,148.
Statewide, casinos saw a 3.11 decrease in "gaming win" over the same period last year, the state's gaming regulator reports. Nevada casinos took in gaming profits of $859,240,472 for the month of August. In August 2011 it was $886,835,278.
South Shore Lake Tahoe area casinos tumbled in August, falling 19.45 percent over profits during the same period last year, the board reports. South Shore casinos took in a total gaming profit of $22,016,651 for the month, while in August 2011 they took in $27,331,777.
Reno casinos saw a 4.66 percent increase in gaming win for the month, taking in $48,855,464. Washoe County casinos reported a gaming win increase of 5.13 percent. The Las Vegas Strip saw a decline of 1.19 percent.
Elsewhere, North Lake Tahoe area casinos fared better with a "gaming" win plus margin of 18.37 percent. Casinos on the north shore took in $3,265,757 in August compared to $2,758,894 in August 2011. See the statewide gaming data graphic below.
