Hunters hoping to draw a wild turkey tag for Nevada's 2011 spring hunting season shouldn't wait much longer.
The deadline for submitting tag applications is 5 p.m. February 15, and they must be delivered through a postal service.
In order to apply, hunters must have a license valid March 1, 2010 through Feb. 28, 2011. But they can purchase a 2011-12 hunting license online as part of the application process.
Successful tag holders must have a hunting license valid from March 1, 2011 through Feb. 29, 2012 when hunting under authority of a 2011 spring wild turkey tag.
Paper tag applications and regulations are available at Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) regional offices in Las Vegas, Elko and Reno.
They are available online at www.ndow.org.
Tech savvy hunters can apply for a tag online at www.huntnevada.com. Results of the tag draw will be posted online and at NDOW regional offices on March 4.
Nevada's wild turkey hunting seasons get underway as early as March 25 in some units, and begin as late as April 14 in others.
In some areas a significant portion of the turkey population is found on private property so NDOW encourages hunters to obtain permission to trespass prior to submitting their application for a tag.
