Several spinouts have been reported tonight and this morning, including a semi-truck blocking traffic near Lakeview and Highway 395 in Carson City and an injury accident reported at about 12:30 this morning in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 at Spooner.
A two-vehicle accident in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 involves a hit and run driver. Authorities are looking for a red PT Cruiser which left the scene. The extent of the injuries are unknown.
Earlier this morning at least four vehicles, including the semi, were reportedly off the side of the road or blocking traffic at the intersection near the city limits. Carson City authorities are reporting icy conditions, especially near Lakeview. The Nevada Highway Patrol has been called for assistance.
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a winter advisory for the Carson City area, in effect through 5 a.m. The weather service reports a band of moderate snow will continue to affect portions of western Nevada into Monday morning. Accumulations from this band is expected to be about inches or less on roads, with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches possible on non-paved surfaces.
The Lake Tahoe area remains under a winter weather advisory. Chains or snow tires are required over Spooner Summit and Kingsbury Grade.
