Rain in the valley and snow in the Sierra is what is shaping up for this week across the Carson City region.
Two weather systems are expected to move into Western Nevada beginning Tuesday night, with wind gusts from 45 mph in the lower elevations, to gusts near 100 mph in the Sierra, according to the National Weather Service in Reno and CarsonWeather.com.
Rain showers are possible Monday night into Tuesday, with breezy conditions on the onset of the storm systems. Winds on Monday could be between 15 and 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. On Tuesday, there's a 20 percent chance of rain showers after 11 a.m. with partly sunny skies and a high near 67. Wind gusts could run between 25 to as high as 40 mph. On Wednesday, there's a 100 percent chance of rain in the forecast.
