Carson City fire paramedics were called to a rear-ender accident on Timberline Road Sunday night on a report of an injured motorcycle rider whose bike was rear-ended by a big Chevy Suburban, just after the big curve up from Lakeview.
Deputies say the story had an odd twist to it, in that both the lady driver and the male motorcycle rider knew each other pretty well. The lady in the Suburban said the two had broken up the day before and that she was surprised to see her now former boyfriend riding his motorcycle downhill on Timberline. She said he went past her but then circled around and roared back up the hill at a very high rate of speed. As he passed her and pulled back into her uphill lane she said he slammed on his brakes in an effort to get her to stop. She said he slammed on his brakes a little too close in front of her and her Suburban rammed the motorcycle, embedding it into her vehicle’s left front engine area.
Arriving paramedics characterized his injuries as moderate but not life-threatening. The man, from Gardnerville, was loaded aboard a Careflight chopper and transported to the regional trauma center in Reno. Officers say damage was extensive to both vehicles. They say the lady wasn’t hurt. Deputies say they plan to cite the motorcycle rider for causing the accident, including passing another vehicle on a blind curve.
