Amanda Collins broke into tears Friday as Assembly Chairman James Frierson rejected a motion by Assemblyman Jim Wheeler to vote on AB 143. The bill would have allowed concealed weapons to be carried on Nevada’s higher education campuses with a permit. Collins, who was raped on the University of Nevada, Reno campus in Oct. 2007, testified in support of the bill.

Assemblywoman Michelle Fiore and Assemblyman Wheeler consoled Collins after the meeting was adjourned. April 12 is the drop date for all bills, so Collins will have to wait until next session to fight for a vote on AB 143.
